Senior Platform Engineer

About Allora Labs

Allora Labs is on a mission to commoditize all forms of intelligence. Operating at the intelligence layer of the AI stack, we believe that building at the intersection of crypto and AI is the optimal path to achieving our mission. Our team is dedicated to pioneering new frontiers in decentralized intelligence, leveraging blockchain and AI to drive innovation and unlock new opportunities. Allora’s current focus is on building a scalable platform that empowers users to launch algorithmic trading agents and machine learning models without requiring any coding or DevOps skills, and to host feature-engineered datasets that accelerate ML development. Additionally, we plan to replicate the successes of Kaggle competitions – attracting a thriving community of machine learning engineers and supporting their technical needs – as we scale our blockchain network indexing infrastructure and integrate the Allora Network with other blockchains.

The Role

We’re looking for a Staff Platform Engineer to spearhead the development and architecture of Allora’s core platform – spanning on-chain and off-chain Web3 systems, intelligent autonomous agents, and the enabling infrastructure for machine learning engineers on our platform. You will work across the backend, frontend, agentic AI, and ML layers, designing and implementing cutting-edge systems that combine distributed architectures, LLMs, and smart contract interactions. As a staff-level engineer, you'll drive technical strategy, ensure our systems are scalable and reliable, and mentor other engineers in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Full Stack Engineering: Build high-performance backend services (Python, Rust, Go, Node.js) and intuitive frontends (React, TypeScript) for AI-driven applications.
  • Smart Contract & Web3 Integration: Develop on-chain/off-chain interactions between AI agents and smart contracts using Ethereum, Layer 2s, and other blockchain ecosystems. This includes writing smart contracts and building off-chain services to integrate the Allora Network with multiple other blockchains.
  • Distributed Systems & Scalability: Design scalable and resilient distributed systems – including AI inference pipelines and Web3 infrastructure – to support growth and high availability.
  • Scalable Platform & Agent Hosting: In concert with our DevOps team, architect a platform that makes it easy to deploy and host quant trading agents and machine learning models on Allora’s infrastructure. This platform should allow users to launch agents/models without deep coding or MLOps expertise, and will also support hosting feature-engineered datasets for the community.
  • Data Processing & Indexing Pipelines: Create real-time data pipelines and indexing systems that feed AI agents with on-chain and off-chain intelligence.
  • AI Agent Development: Architect and develop autonomous AI agents that interact with blockchain protocols, external APIs, and decentralized applications (dApps).
  • Community Platform & Competitions: Build platform features to foster a thriving community of ML and quantitative researchers. For example, enable Kaggle-style competitions and collaborative tools, encouraging participation and accelerating innovation within our ecosystem.
  • Technical Leadership: Drive key architectural decisions, mentor team members, and uphold best practices in AI agent development and decentralized systems.
  • Testing & Deployment: Ensure secure, high-availability deployments using automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in software development, with expertise in Python, Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript), and/or Rust/Go.
  • Frontend: Strong experience with React, Next.js, or similar modern frontend frameworks.
  • Backend: Deep knowledge of backend systems, microservices, and API development. Proven track record in designing and scaling reliable system architectures for complex applications.
  • AI/ML: Understanding of AI/ML concepts and experience integrating machine learning models or LLMs (large language models) and autonomous agents into applications.
  • Web3: Hands-on experience with smart contract development (Solidity/Ethereum or comparable), Web3 tools, and blockchain protocols.
  • Infrastructure & Data: Strong proficiency with modern cloud infrastructure and distributed systems – including deploying to AWS/GCP, using container orchestration (Kubernetes), and building data pipelines with streaming/message platforms like Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Leadership: Ability to work independently and lead projects in a fast-paced, research-driven startup environment. Demonstrated technical leadership in previous roles, with experience mentoring engineers and guiding cross-team initiatives.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with AI agent frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGPT, BabyAGI).
  • Contributions to open-source projects in AI, Web3, or agent-based computing.
  • Strong understanding of zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), cryptography, or decentralized governance models.
  • Experience with orchestration tools for large-scale AI/ML workloads (e.g. Ray, Kubeflow).
  • Familiarity with quantitative trading or financial systems (algorithmic trading, market data handling).

Why Join Allora Labs?

  • Be part of a cutting-edge company at the intersection of AI and crypto.
  • Work alongside a world-class team of innovators and experts.
  • Shape the future of decentralized intelligence and financial operations.
  • Competitive compensation package, including token incentives.
